Caroline Riley is a 22 year old illustrator and graphic novelist from Aiken, SC. She draws and writes like a well-oiled machine with no plans to stop in the foreseeable future. For Caroline it’s work work work until every story coddled in her head has its chance to shine for the world.

Born and bred in the Northern California sun, Chris transplanted to the Carolinas in 1998. He was introduced to the world of graphic design during an Intro-to-Photoshop class and loves typography, classic cars and making stuff with his hands.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Dagmar later made the big move down to South Carolina. Ever since she was a young child, she loved drawing and creating art. Graphic design became a part of her life when she realized her art could have functionality. She has spent the last four years studying at Winthrop University to perfect her craft in graphic design. Dagmar’s skills involve vector art and typography and she also has a knack at handwork in watercolors.

Her dream job is to workin a small studio where everyone knows each other and collaborates to make amazing things. Lori has been drawn to handmade items and the creative process for as long as she can remember. She came to Winthrop as a transfer student working on her second bachelorʼs degree. Loriʼs first degree is in advertising from Michigan State University, and after working in advertising and marketing in the automotive and medical device industries, she decided to return to school to study graphic design. Lori gains inspiration from traveling, photography, and being outdoors.

Coming from the small town of Chester, SC, Morgan’s dentist's office keeps artworks in her file from when she was 6 years old. Not your typical scribbles and drawings, her pieces are composed only of letters and numbers, an early sign of a future graphic designer. Morgan hopes to use her skills in the areas of branding and packaging while pioneering ways to make design more interactive. In her free time you can catch her collecting her thoughts with yoga, exploring the great outdoors or hunting down the next best iced coffee.

Originally from Ohio, Mikey Burton describes himself as a part-time designer and part- time illustrator—which adds up to a full-time "Designy" Illustrator. Now living in Chicago, Mikey has done work for clients such as Converse, ESPN, Target, The New York Times, Time Magazine, and Esquire. He has been recognized by Communication Arts, How, Print, and ADC Young Guns.
Drawing inspiration from old product packaging and printing methods, Mikey has developed a unique aesthetic that he characterizes as “Midwesterny.” Based on Mikey’s dedication and passion for his craft, we thought he was a perfect speaker for our show because he is “just our type.”

Mint Museum Randolph was the first art museum in North Carolina, opening in 1936. Prior to becoming a museum, the building was the original branch of the United States Mint specializing in gold coinage. Today, The Mint Museum features collections of art and design from around the world spanning more than 4,500 years of human creativity.
